Wildtig, you are smarter than to regurgitate NRA bullshit. I assume this was a momentary lapse.

Charliels531, If He'd kicked in your back door and was outside your room with a weapon, having just escaped form prison and still wearing his prison outfit, considering any escaped convict in their right mind would've changed clothes and tried to hide rather than noisily breaking into a house, would you have considered him a threat?

If not, you're a saint.

If so, what would you have done?

Called the police and hope he didn't kick your bedroom door in a kill you before the police arrived?

Tried to reason with him?

Attacked him but not use any weapons, hoping that you'd seen enough bruce lee films to kick his head in?

Attacked him but used a weapon hoping that it would be long enough to keep him too far away from you for him to kill you? How would you know what weapon to use if you don't have x-ray eyes to see through the door?

I'm a Brit in Britland so I have no particular axe to grind in this U.S. argument.

An NBC story is NRA bullshit because a gun was used to defend a woman.

I guess it would only be PC allowable if the gun was taken from the woman and used to rape her with it.

Normal PC argument from California. Nevermind the nonstories where just showing the weapon caused the felon to flee.

Gentlemen, find a single U.S. public figure who has proposed "she didn't have a gun because Gun Control morons took away her Constitutional right to bear arms".

That is NRA bullshit.

So you favor the NRA positions that the mentally ill and terrorists have a constitutional right to possess firearms. (For anyone not familiar with U.S. politics, in the last two years the NRA has used its political muscle to force repeal of limits on the former and killed a bill which would have prevented the latter.)

We would point out the people - like Hillary - who say to look at the Australian model which has confiscation and restrictions on purchasing weapons - for the "took away" argument.

As to your view of mentally ill - the law that I recall was the one where US veterans who would seek treatment for possible PTSD would have their weapons confiscated because of possible mental disease. NRA has stated "Our position is no guns for terrorists—period. Due process & right to self-defense for law-abiding Americans."

So I understand you will feel compelled to argue your view of the argument and we will respond with our view. We can still be polite about it…… or not.

The French gendarmes seemingly beating their population into paying higher petrol taxes. Guess the French Government got cold feet and withdrew it.

I guess in my state we are just too use to paying higher taxes. We seldom even write a letter to the editor.

No wonder all those illegal immigrants are so desperate to get out of France, it's a nightmare there

The yellow vest protest in France is not tied to immigrants, parties or any existing organization - ? It is the working poor - ?

It probably is, but I'm against gun control as a general measure. It depends where you live. If you're in a city, licenses must be very strict, imho

But if you live in wild areas, such as the Rockies, the Arctic, or Siberia, It's irresponsible not to have a firearm

So since the college shut down all its 70 locations, then all the 19,000 students who are left out in the cold should also be allowed to not repay any loans they took out to pay for the courses at that college.

This is why you go to a real college and not one of these technical schools which most of them are a scam.

They get you in a ton of debt to finish their courses and promise you the world of the best jobs around when you graduate and after graduation, you find out you can't even get an entry level position in whatever technical field you studies: medical assistant, auto mechanic, etc etc

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...hey-re-n944976

Look up ITT Technical institute. They filed bankruptcy in 2016. How the heck did they go bankrupt? All the students get a student loan and government grants that add up to be higher than the actual cost of their courses and the checks goes directly to ITT. The students don't see a penny of it but they ended owing more money than the actual cost of their courses.

When I attended college, the student loan checks and government grants came to me and anything that's left over after paying for tuition and books and materials and course fees, it was mine to keep to pay for rent and food and other living expenses.

When ITT shut down, many of their students were left out in the cold. Only after several major lawsuits and the Fed stepped in, that did the student loan debts for all the students who attended ITT from 2006 to 2016 were wiped out completely.

I used to see ITT commercials on TV all the time, promising you a career in this and that paying a lot of money as soon as you graduate, claiming their degrees will certify you in Cisco or ASE auto repair or AC repair or Medical Nursing, etc.

I had a friend in the 90's who went to ITT, spent a ton of $ and borrowed a ton of $ to lean auto mechanics and after he graduated 3 years later, her couldn't even get a job at the quick oil change place or a full service auto repair shop or the service shop of a auto dealership.

None of them would recognize his ITT training as good enough to even change oil and tires.

Then he decided to go to get an associate degree at a real college and all those classes he too at ITT were not even transferable for credits.
